A team of Straits Law’s finest super strikers participated in the CJ’s Cup Futsal Tournament 2017, and emerged victorious in the Plate Division!
Held annually, this year’s competition took place on 16 September 2017 at the Kovan Sports Centre. 19 teams made up of law firms, universities and halfway houses battled it out in support of a meaningful cause, the Yellow Ribbon Fund (YRF).
We are proud to have fielded a team including women and veterans, who did not shy from crunching tackles against opposition teams consisting of youthful male players. Thanks to our (foot)baller shareholders who kindly funded kits and training sessions in preparation for the tournament, our squad had the solidity and stamina to see off the stiff competition and bring home the medals!
The joint charity event co-organised by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) and YRF, raised $92,700 for the YRF-SAL STAR (Skills Training Assistance to Restart) Bursary, which provides educational bursaries to financially disadvantaged ex-offenders for vocational and skills training. We thank and congratulate SAL and YRF for organising this fun-filled occasion!
